Data Retention Policies
One way to improve data security is by having a Data Retention Policy. Such policies denote what should be collected, how it should be stored, how long it should be kept, and how to discard information when no longer needed. Having such policies helps new staff understand expectations while also providing guidance to current staff on what to do. Following such policies reduces risk by limiting the amount of sensitive information collected and kept.
